A Message From Our PTA President Minimize

Dear Fern Families,

The 2013-14 school year promises to be a continuing adventure in education. We are settling in quite nicely to our new buildings continuing to grow with our media center, science room and new for this year our very own art room, where the students will come and participate in our Adventures in Art program. The PTA will continue to take advantage of our wonderful environment, so our programs have the maximum impact on our children’s education. Last school year, Fern PTA provided many programs for our students they would no longer get to participate in. Did you know the PTA exclusively funds programs such as field trips and art classes? The PTA also provided SMART boards, back pack racks and basic furniture needs for classrooms. We have all felt the drastic cuts in education funding and with your involvement, the PTA hopes to continue and improve on all these programs.

At the speed technology is moving it is important to stay on top of communications so families know what’s going on at Fern. Fern has embraced technology, and there is so much information available to your family on our website or through our Weekly Communicator. I heavily encourage all parents/guardians, teachers, and even grandparents or anyone with interests at Fern to sign up for the Weekly Communicator. (http://fern.tusd.org/FernCommunicator)

Don’t just gloss over this valuable email. Take a peak and find out what’s going on at Fern. By checking your Weekly Communicator, (http://fern.tusd.org/FernCommunicator) you’ll find details like, when students are getting out early for parent conferences, which day your child should wear silly socks, when forms are due for activities, or when PTA is looking for volunteers. Let’s support our Fern students by being proactive about communication this year and every year. By keeping up with our communications, you will be helping your child(ren) get the most out of their fantastic Fern education.

As we head into the new school year, please take time and be involved in your child’s education our theme for the year is “Teamwork: Many Hands Make Light Work”, please consider volunteering this year and making a difference. You’d be surprised at how little time it takes.

Looking forward to a great 2013-14,

Heidi Dimaya
