Third Grade- Room 17

Homework Reminder:  Everyone is off to a great start!  Be sure to read and sign the agenda every night.  Important announcements and upcoming events will be noted here. I would like my parents/caregivers to review and correct homework with their child to check for neatness and effort.  I ask that each page be initialed after it has been reviewed.  This also allows opportunity for parents to help "reteach" skills where needed and give positive reinforcement which they LOVE!  You are an integral part of your child's education.  Thank you for your support!

If you have any questions please ask.

Thank you!

Weekly Homework Packets

Homework is an important part of your child's school experience.  Homework is assigned nightly and due the next day. Homework is designed to reinforce skills taught in class but also allows parents to review and reteach skills with their child if necessary.  Third grade homework usually includes a spelling, math, language, and reading assignment each week. Parents should keep track of reading minutes on the reading log.  Reading logs are due on Mondays. Keyboarding practice is assigned in late Fall through our eTyper program.

Classroom Volunteers

I love classroom volunteers!  Volunteers work with small groups, cut or copy materials, attend field trips, etc.  A volunteer form must be submitted to the office along with a TB test.  Let me know ASAP if you are interested in being a volunteer.  As soon as the forms are complete, I will put togeter a volunteer schedule and post it on the website as well.

Snacks

Please provide a healthy snack for your child every day.  Snack recess is at 10:30am.  As lunch is not served until 12:20pm, your child will need a little something before then.  I encourage water bottles as well.  I discourage the metal water bottles as they clank loudly as they fall off their desks.  Be sure to pack your child's snack separately from their lunch.  Label them with your child's name.

Note: There is a student in our class room that has a severe peanut allergy.  No peanut snakcs (or items containing traces of peanut) will be allowed in the classroom.  Snack and lunch items containing peanuts must be in an enclosed bag or box until in the cafeteria or snack bench.  A letter was sent home with some guidelines.  Please discuss this matter with your child.  Our goal is to increase awareness and build social understanding to severe allergies.

Box Top for Education

On many General Mills products you will find a  coupon that can be cut out and redeeme.  Each coupon I turn in earns 10 cents for my classroom!  Please cut out the coupons and have your child bring them to class.  Ten cents per coupon does add up.  Don't forget to as other family members to help with this collection.  Thank you for your support!

If you would like to speak with me, please send a note, email me or see me after school. You can email me at hwhitten@etusd.org

School Hours

School begins at 8:50am and ends at 3:03pm.  PLC (every Wednesday) dismissal is at 2:17pm.  Room 17 students will be walked to the El Dorado gate for dismissal.  I will dismiss my students after making eye contact with the parent or regular care provider.  If you make arrangements for alternate care or play dates, please send in notes so I know who I am dismissing to.  Safety first!

Please drop your child off in the morning no earlier than 8:20am if they are having breakfast and 8:35am if they are not having breakfast in the cafe.
